General Description:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position at GMR headquarters in Heath, TX. The position falls under the GMR EC to the Foreman or Journeyman electrician on site. This is a position with opportunities to advance as the company grows. This position is primarily responsible for safety and efficiency performing electrical installation and repair work in a supporting apprenticeship role.
Specific Duties:
- Supporting and learning from journeyman and master electricians.
- The installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in the commercial construction markets at job sites of various sizes and in various locations. This includes assisting in the diagnoses or trouble shooting of existing electrical systems.
- Assisting with onsite estimates and proposals for service work and small installations.
- Cooperating with sub-contractors on job sites to ensure the efficient completion of work.
- Assisting in the permitting process as needed.
- Safety:
- Understanding all applicable safety rules and regulations prior to beginning each work day.
- Responsible for reading, understanding, following, communicating, and complying with safety rules, processes, and procedures at all stages of work and for all job site employees.
- Understanding the rules/protocols for the safe operation of all tools and equipment that you may be asked to use.
- Reporting or communicating the need to stop when unsafe work practices are observed.
- Regular safety inspections of tools before use.
- With assistance, reading construction plans and/or scope of work documents to determine the correct orderly approach for completing your work as specified in a safe and efficient manner.
- The inspection of your work at each stage of execution to ensure the work is completed in a safe and proper manner.
- The promotion of excellent customer relations through professional interactions and communication with the customer and all other entities working on the job site.
- Assisting in the acquiring, organizing, inventorying, staging and distribution of equipment and materials as needed and/or upon request.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

General Requirements:
- Personal integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
- Enrolled in and passing IEC Apprenticeship program or approved equivalent.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and a belief that safety practices are a primary responsibility of all employees.
- Good communication skills.
- Sound and organizational and time management skills.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable concerning the use and care of the tools, equipment and materials required for most commercial electrical projects.
- The ability to communicate and interact in a professional manner coworkers.
- The ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with customers during job site and interactions.
- Willing to travel out of town and/or out of state as required by project.
Requirements:
- State of Texas Apprentice Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 3 months of date of hire).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Internet Explored/Chrome.
- Must provide your own hand tools.
