JOB SUMMARY
This position is contingent upon contract award. This position supports the Engineering Team at the GMRE HQ (South Ogden, UT). The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for integration of aircraft systems including design, analysis, substantiation, and coordination of projects for DoD and commercial derivative aircraft.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, develop, and prepare designs, drawings, and configurations for aircraft, various platforms, applying knowledge of engineering principles
- Prepare and present material for formal design reviews, customer meetings, and technical proposal activities
- Support designs from conception through customer acceptance
- Analyze and prepare FEA, Structural Analysis, Weight & Balance, Environmental Analysis, and testing procedures in accordance with MIL standards and reporting methodologies
- Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
- Assist in field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
- Estimate costs and request quotes for engineering projects
- Participate in peer reviews of all engineering deliverables
- Provide support to other company elements as required

Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proven working experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Experience creating structural design using Solidworks incorporating ASME standards
- Ability to work independently on project design
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- . Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- 5 years of experience
SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to obtain an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
- Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver’s license is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, installations, and/or site visits.
