Duties and responsibilities:
- Organize/maintain yard of raw steel materials and finished materials under direction of Shipping Supervisor.
- Identify and pull steel material to designated work areas or storage locations.
- Pickup and deliver materials to and from various locations.
- Create Pack Slips, BOLs and related shipment documentation required for shipments.
- Prepare/process orders by picking, packing, staging and banding boxes.
- Maintain day-to-day paperwork (packing slips, BOL’s, pick tickets, etc.)
- Perform cycle counts of materials when assigned.
- Perform daily operations and safety checks of forklifts.
- Receive and unload raw materials verifying materials against pack slip of quantities and all traceable information on deliveries (ex: Mill Test Reports, Heat Numbers, Certification of Authorizations.
- Verify quality of raw materials meets company quality standards and create/report non-conforming material to designated department.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, keeping tools and equipment in assigned locations.
- Maintain communication with Purchasing/Inventory Control of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Create shipments in FedEx or other systems.
- Request trucks for various shipments on an as needed basis
- Operate forklift to load/unload trucks of steel materials.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of experience in steel manufacturing
- Forklift experience with 40’ long materials
- Understanding of steel gauges, sizes, and general knowledge of SAE material grades
- Must be dependable, possess a teamwork mentality, and ability to coordinate, organize, and plan.
- Possess excellent time management skills.
- Bi-lingual a plus
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Satisfactorily pass in-company forklift certification
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Environment/Physical Requirements
The position is in a manufacturing shop environment and as such requires the following physical work requirements:
- Must be able to lift 100lbs
- Position requires standing, bending and kneeling.
- Working in heat and cold weather outside in yard and inside steel shop
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
