SUMMARY
The Loan Specialist is responsible for managing the administrative tasks involved in processing loan applications. Their role ensures that the loan application and approval process runs smoothly by gathering, reviewing, and verifying the necessary documents and information. They play a key role in preparing loan files for underwriting and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following tasks are fundamental to the position and necessary for its successful execution:
- Reinforces the consistent application of superior customer service by setting a strong example; following through with customer inquiries via phone, email and in-person, addressing questions regarding loan transactions and accounts.
- Maintains knowledge of loan products and services and is able to provide enhanced customer service including customer information changes, digital banking support, electronic transfer inquiries, etc.
- Completes loan data worksheets to ensure information is complete; follows up to obtain missing data.
- Reviews loan documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and internal lending policies and procedures.
- Executes loan closings, distributes loan proceeds and scans documents in Bank’s imaging system.
- Sets up Ticklers on Bank’s core computer for all new recorded instruments such as, vehicle title and UCC filings.
- Monitors and distributes tickler exceptions to ensure proper receipt of UCC, Inspections, NOSI, NOL, Secured Title, Insurance, REM, DOT, Title Policy, Inspections, verifications, etc.
- Regularly reviews reports to maintain accuracy and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Consistently applies sound decision-making techniques when handling inquiries, approvals, and requests within assigned approval limits.
- Plays a positive role in the development and growth of department staff through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
- Adheres to compliance with internal controls, physical security protocols, and non-loan policies and procedures. Consistently demonstrates ethical behavior, upholding the Bank’s values, and inspiring the trust of others through personal actions.
OTHER DUTIES
- Represents the Bank in community activities, supporting the institution’s goals and values through external engagement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Problem-solving skills, utilizing knowledge of policies and procedures to determine resolution.
- Experience and proficiency using Microsoft 365 and/or Microsoft Office product suite.
- Organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong work ethic that supports a willingness to handle multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
