Product and Process Specialist - Food Science

The Product and Process Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing, developing custom color blends, and qualifying new products. Must have a firm understanding of SF & FG features, qualification procedures, portfolio gaps & new product development process flow.

Responsible for creating production orders, qualify new ingredients & packages, address quality issues, conduct stability testing and validation of new or modified recipes. As a specialist, will be support and back-up for production manager.

The role :

• Works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Planning to ensure recipes (alternate recipes) and features are accurate.
• Build deep knowledge on technical attributes of different Semi-Finished materials and impact to recipes. Key expert on what ingredients can be blended, at what levels, and what must be avoided.
• Responsible for technical troubleshooting when batches are out of specification. Provide technical recommendations on how to address quality issues.
• Fully knowledgeable in BC14 (business management software) and Nav Master (Samples). Create and manage item cards, production protocols, inspection plans for new items. Create Production Orders & Plan to qualify all recipes on production line.
• Update & / or Create Standard Operating procedures for pilot scale to large scale process and external co-manufacturing.
• Works with Quality / Regulatory, Manufacturing, Applications to understand labeling, quality, food safety, technical attributes, etc. for new products.
• Research, test and introduce ideas for new products that meet customer needs.
• Works collaboratively with the other members of the Sales, Technical Development Team, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing as to start up new products.
• Qualify new suppliers, new ingredients, packages, farmers, co-manufacturers from a technical and quality point of view.
• Utilize food science and manufacturing experience to produce quality products in line with GNT & Industry standards.
