Job Description
Job Title: Child Care Coordinator FLSA Status: Part Time
Incumbent: Revision Date: September 30, 2016
Reports to: Child Care Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists in implementing high quality Y-KIDS Child Care Programs and MRC Arts & Leisure Programs. Schedules and help organize for Toddler Time in a manner that new and existing members feel supported in and are making progress towards their goals while developing a sense of connection both with the YMCA cause and other members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Recruits, assists in supervising and help monitor trainings for the Child Care instructors and MRC programming.
3. Leads the Child Care instructors by supervising and performing the following duties:
a. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
b. Ensures that every staff member has the goal of welcoming new participants and fostering a sense of community within child care sites.
c. Help ensure Y-KIDS staff is current in First Aid, CPR-Pro certifications and Child Care Continuing Education hours.
d. Responsible for Y-KIDS staff schedules, assist in meetings and communication.
4. Manages the Y-KIDS schedule so that needs are met, numbers are appropriate and labor costs are within established guidelines.
5. Assist Director in marketing programs.
6. Maintains written records on individual children for all requirements in Y-KIDS.
7. Assist in implementing structure in Y-KIDS Program.
8. Assist in helping collect Y-KIDS Supply Needs
9. Assist when Program Director is not available in:
a. Overseeing and scheduling Y-KIDS campus sites staff
b. Following up on Y-KIDS payments
c. Overseeing staff payroll
10. Any other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least 2 years experience working within a child care/ educational environment.
2. Required certifications include First Aid and CPR.
3. High degree of organizational and management skills and must have the ability to lead and motivate staff.
4. Possess the ability to positively interact with members and class participants and be knowledgeable in the areas of membership procedures and YMCA program standards.
5. Passionate belief in the YMCA’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
6. Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions (exposure to outside weather is frequent if working at an outdoor pool). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
