Purpose of Job:
To provide quality services and expertise on issues ranging from program design to intervention with individual students within the scope of their professional training. Staff members who fill this position will support the social/emotional growth of students. They will update, maintain, assist, and train others on the MTSS, Family Support, Student Support Service Referral system and Community Resource processes for their region. The Social Emotional Generalist will link child-serving and community agencies to the schools and families to support the student’s academic, emotional, behavioral, and social success.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:

- Monitor, respond and maintain to social emotional referrals via social work referral forms.
- Maintain a focused caseload of identified high risk students in need of an extra layer of support.
- May provide service hours surrounding social emotional IEP goals under the supervision of the Social Emotional Coordinator
- Maintain professional involvement in the crisis response, and threat assessment teams as needed.
- Respond and assess student social emotional referrals based on student need.
- Participate and support weekly POD/Family Support meetings within their region.
- Monitor, maintain, and utilize GOAL social emotional data tools ((Student Support Service referrals, Needs Survey, & MTSS) to help identify student need as well as communicate needs with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a high level of communication (both verbally and in writing) with GOAL staff, students, and parents to deliver program information and address student needs when it comes to Support Services.
- Participate as an MTSS team member through training of the MTSS documentation, processes, and Family Support Implementation.
- Comply with Mandatory Reporting requirements and guidelines.
- Comply with confidentiality requirements and guidelines in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other federal, state, local laws/guidelines mandating privacy requirements.
- Communicate politely, appropriately, and professionally in person, over the phone, or electronically.
- Maintain relationships with regional partnering agencies.
- Attend local community events involving local support service agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Associate degree required.
- Bachelor’s degree and training in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Two years of experience in a student support services role within secondary school setting working with high-risk students required.
Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Solid background and work history demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Current or previous employment history in positions where a high degree of English language skills are necessary. Ability to communicate in bi-lingual situations a plus.
- Proof of solid work experience in positions requiring the ability to diffuse and manage stressful situations and the skill needed to manage conflicts effectively.
- Operate at a minimum on a proficient level regarding standard office equipment and office programs requiring frequent use of spreadsheets, word documents, Internet, and databases.
- Show a background in applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrated history of positions requiring a high degree of organizational skills, managing multiple priorities/tasks with frequent interruptions, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Understands the benefits of continuous learning and takes personal responsibility for professional development.
- Ethical, honest, and good-humored.
