We're hiring a part-time community safety ambassador to support bicycle and traffic safety education initiatives in Niagara and Erie Counties.

Job Description
To make our roads safer for all, GObike is looking for help working with Niagara and Erie County communities to increase awareness of safe road use for all users. Methods for public education and awareness will primarily consist of workshops on safe cycling, bicycle-friendly driving, bike rodeos, group bike rides, and on-bike demonstrations of safe riding techniques.
This position reports to the Education & Workshop Director.
Key responsibilities include:
· Support the Community Workshop Director in community outreach, scheduling safety presentations and workshops, and distributing safety material
· Present GObike’s education workshops and materials to various community groups
· Work individually and with other instructors to implement GObike’s education workshops.
· Safely lead groups of participants on bicycle rides through local neighborhoods.
· Make workshops and activities fun!
The GObike community safety ambassador should have:
· An understanding of their community and critical thinking about the traffic safety issues within it
· Basic knowledge of traffic and bicycle rules and regulations (training available)
· Comfort using Microsoft Office and web-based file systems (i.e., Google Suite)
· Experience and/ or comfort teaching, leading groups, and/or public speaking
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
· Demonstrated ability to work across racial, ethnic, gender, class and ability differences
· Personal commitment to active transportation (biking, walking, and transit)
· Enthusiasm to come to work and make a difference in Niagara Falls & Buffalo
· Patience while working with youth and attention to detail
· Ability to manage their time across multiple projects
The position term is April 2025 to August 2025. The position is for 20 hours each week and the applicants should expect to work a variable schedule, depending on the timing of activities, workshops, and presentations, including nights and weekends as needed. Compensation is $20 per hour.
