What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trust Accountant position at Godfrey & Kahn, S.C.?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monthly reconciliation of brokerage accounts
- Distribution of funds including beneficiary distributions, bill payment and tax payments
- Initiate/approve outgoing funds made by wire, ACH or check
- Processing transactions such as income, trades, receipts, disbursements, corporate actions, and wash sales
- Accounting for miscellaneous assets including limited partnerships, closely held stock, notes, mortgages, and insurance policies
- Communication with trustees, tax professionals, and investment managers
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
- Strong analytical, attention to detail, collaboration, and communication skills
- Experience using trust accounting software
- Understanding of basic fiduciary terms and concepts
- Thorough understanding of fiduciary tax law and concepts
