QUALIFICATIONS
In order to fulfill the job functions listed below an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing.
Possess a current RN license in the State of Michigan.
Minimum of one year experience in geriatric nursing.
Experience in computers (Preferred).
Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory capacity (Preferred).
Teaching experience (Preferred).
Public speaking and organizational skills and a desire to uphold quality nursing standards (Preferred).
Certified to teach Nurse Aide Class or the ability to obtain same (Preferred).
AHA CPR Instructor
Infection Prevention Certification (Preferred).
REQUIREMENTS
Comply with all Facility policies and procedures.
Comply with shift standards, duties, and responsibilities.
Comply with all safety, universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
Present a friendly, calm, cooperative, positive manner.
Obtain continuing education relating to the care of the geriatric resident and nursing education.
Maintain RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Is responsible to the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
On occasion may need to lift up to 40 lbs.
Available to provide resident care when needed.
Render emergency assistance for all resident’s welfare as necessary.
Plan and provide the Director of Nursing with an annual schedule of planned in-service programs.
Coordinate, direct, implement, and participate in Facility educational programs including, but not limited to,
in-service for Facility personnel.
Attend, plan and/or instruct required in-services.
Observe and teach the Facility safety rules to nursing staff.
Evaluate resident and staff needs and provide the Administrator and the Director of Nursing with
comprehensive recommendations concerning the educational needs of nursing assistants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS CONTINUED
Evaluate resident and staff needs and provide the Director of Nursing with comprehensive recommendations
concerning the educational needs of the nursing department.
Manage the approved education program and submit required paperwork as directed by the Director of Nursing
or required regulatory agencies.
Observe and teach the Facility infection control policies and procedures, the safety rules and body mechanics,
and the resident rights policies and procedures to the Nurse Aides.
Interpret and implement established program policies, procedures, and regulations to the Nurse Aides and
Licensed Nurses.
As directed, will plan, schedule, and teach a Certified Nursing Assistant Class as needed.
As directed, will plan, schedule, and teach Resident Assistant Training as needed.
As directed, will plan, schedule, and teach Dining Assistant Training as needed.
Plan, implement, direct, and evaluate the CPR program in the Facility based on identified resident needs, staff
needs, federal, state, and local regulations.
Demonstrate consistent ability to work cooperatively with residents, other nursing supervisors, other licensed
nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, families, consultants, and other personnel.
Implement and oversee the Restorative Therapy, Dining Assistant, and Resident Assistant programs and staff.
Assure that the Nurse Aides follow the Facility prescribed dress code for Nurse Aides.
Assist with staff disciplines.
Assist with staff evaluations.
Assist with interviews for RN’s, LPN’s and Nurse Aides if needed.
Assume a position on Nursing Management On-Call Rotation.
Assist with additional duties as needed and/or required in the absence of the DON or RN Management Personnel
Provide backup coverage to the MDS position.
Provide backup coverage to the Infection Preventionist.
Perform regular chart audits.
Assist with investigations as assigned.
Review Facility policies and procedures as needed.
Requisition supplies, as needed.
Immediately report malfunctioning of unsafe, or suspected malfunction or unsafe, equipment or conditions to
supervisor.
Attend required meetings.
Other duties, as may be assigned.
