Utility Inspector - Raleigh-Durham

Duties will include but may not be limited to:

1. Utility Inspection:
   1. Conduct on-site inspections of utility relocation activities on multiple projects, including traffic control installation, location of utility relocations, and work being performed, to verify compliance with construction drawings/plans and NCDOT standards and specifications.
   2. Identify and report any discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
   1. Utilizing a company-provided iPad, maintain detailed daily records of utility relocation activities.
   2. Generate clear and concise inspection reports for observations.
   3. Maintain detailed records of onsite activities to aid in the verification of utility relocations as compared to approved plans.
3. Quality Assurance:
   1. Capturing pictures of work performed and traffic control (if any)
   2. Collaborate with NCDOT staff, utility contractors, and other project stakeholders to address and resolve issues promptly.
4. Safety Compliance:
   1. Monitor and enforce safety protocols and best practices on construction sites.
   2. Report safety hazards and assist in the resolution of safety concerns.
5. Communication:
   1. Communicate clearly and effectively with project stakeholders, including NCDOT representatives, utility contractors/representatives, and project team members.
   2. Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns promptly.

• High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of construction-related experience OR associate's degree in engineering technology, geomatics, or related field
• A strong sense of responsibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Ability to perform field measurements and complete mathematical calculations to determine areas and volumes, and convert between units
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions
• Willingness to work weekends and nights if required
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Associate Degree in Engineering or a related field
• Previous experience working on or with NCDOT projects
• Familiarity with NCDOT Standards and Specifications
• The following certifications:
  • NCDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Level II
  • Work Zone Traffic Control
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction
