Design Engineer II - Frame/BIW

This role will support engineering design and development activities for Frames (Upperbody, Lowerbody, rollcage, Chassis) of Powersports products such as ATVs/SxS from Concept to Mass Production.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation
• Develop and mature assigned components from concept through mass production
• Analyze and resolve problems with moderate to minimal level of guidance and direction.
• Create part specification requirements and BOM
• Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
• Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
• Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
• Travel to client sites required
  
  
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of industry experience developing Automotive Frames required
• Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive.
• Experience developing stamping/sheetmetal components like Body-In-White (BIW, Upperbody, Lowerbody), rollcage, chassis, sub-frames, etc. from Concept to Mass Production
• Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is required
• 3 years of experience using CATIA V5 required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS office
