- Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
- Develop and mature assigned components from concept through production
- Establish and achieve targets for cost, investment, weight, performance, and quality
- Coordinate engineering designs and systems with purchasing, suppliers, testing team, manufacturing team, other vehicle subsystems and functions
- Responsible for quality of components and/or subsystem 3D CAD and technical drawings
- Analyze and resolve complex problems with moderate to minimal guidance.
- Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
- Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
- Travel to client sites required.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree and 5 years industry experience developing automotive interior components required
- Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing Lower cabin trim, Tail Gate Lining, Floor Ducts, Floor Carpet components from concept to release.
- Experience using 3-D modeling software tools (CATIA V6 required).
- Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for hard trim (plastics) and soft trim required.
- Ability to interpret the technical and homologation requirements for Interiors and be able to apply to the designs.
- Ability to interpret CAE/test results and integrate recommendations into product designs.
- Previous Honda development experience is a plus.
- The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS office.
