This position will be responsible for design from concept to production, release, and launch of Automotive Steering system hardware and components.
\n- Design & Release Engineer for Steering System Hardware and Components
- EPS, Electronic Power Steering, Gearboxes, Steering Columns, Tie Rods.
- Expert in Catia V5/V6.
- Solid & Surface modeling and analysis for castings, forgings, stampings, wiring/piping
- Catia FEA or similar kinematics DMU workbench know-how a huge plus
- Creating high level dwgs with correct tolerance, GD&T 1st time out quality
- Ability to work independently when given tasks
- Plan and create schedule for multi-tasks.
- Calculate requirements through Excel interface for strength, durability, impact and fastener torque and clamp load calculations.
- Work and communicate well with other groups, hold meetings with suppliers, factory and service members.
- Able to go to the actual place to see a failure and conceptualize how to solve the issue w/o waiting for detailed instructions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus 3 years relevant experience in Automotive Chassis design and development for steering (preferred), suspension, engine mounts and/or subframe components
- Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
- Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Familiarity with the engineering design components.
- 3 years of experience using CATIA (CATIA V6 preferred)
- The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
- The ability to work independently, and to lead, coach and mentor others
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
