SUMMARY :

Maintenance Worker II is an apprenticeship level position where individuals are mentored and trained, performing a wide variety of work to ensure that GCCR facilities and grounds are maintained in a safe reliable condition. Responsibilities include performing work in all operational and maintenance areas as directed by the Building Services Supervisor. While individuals may have developed skills in one or more areas of the trades, they are expected to perform, new construction, renovations, general maintenance, and repairs in all areas as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES ASSIGNED :

  • Assist and performs work which includes structural repair or remodeling in the maintenance, alteration and construction of buildings, facilities, equipment, including gas and electrical, plumbing, partitions, forms, cabinets, floors, roofs, windows, etc.
  • Assist and perform troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, and adjustment to a variety of complex mechanical and electrical systems, such as boilers, circulating pumps, generators, batteries, lighting and electrical control systems, valves, piping and plumbing fixtures, furnaces, blowers and ductwork, water supply and drainage systems, appliance repair and replacement and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Assist and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including lubricating, changing filters, cleaning, and testing components.
  • Assist and perform the modification of electrical systems; run new circuits; pull wire; install outlets, switches, and fixtures.
  • Assist and perform the modification and repair plumbing and piping systems, including water supply lines, valves, and fixtures, as well as drain, waste, and vent systems.
  • Assist and perform skilled carpentry work, including the preparation of concrete forms; places and finishes concrete; frames platforms, walls, decks, and partitions; install, tape, and texture sheetrock; install finish material such as baseboards, trims, and moldings.
  • Assist in the installation and repair / maintain gas fired furnaces and boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, split systems, pumps, variable speed drives, and chiller equipment
  • Learn to operate related equipment such as backhoe and loader, street sweeper, roller, concrete saw, chippers, etc.
  • Assist in the repair and installation of doors, change and key locks; installs security hardware
  • Inspects facility grounds to identify maintenance, cleanliness and repair needs assigning duties to the appropriate personnel, inspecting all projects upon completion.
  • Assist and perform routine painting of interior and exterior surfaces; install wall coverings and a variety of floor coverings
  • Competently operates power equipment that includes power saws, sanders, drill presses and other equipment as required.
  • Must be a successful communicator capable of discussing complex situations effectively and clearly
  • Continually seek opportunities to create value for our customers and ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system in the completion of projects, preventative maintenance, renovation, repairs, demand work request and other related issues.
  • Communicate with the Building Services Supervisor updating progress on assigned projects.
  • Embrace new and emerging technologies to support operations through flexibility and the ability to learn and adapt to change
  • Responds to request to work overtime when conditions warrant and directed by management
  • Remain relevant and innovated through self-described reading related to facility maintenance, safety procedures by attending professional development courses as required by the Building Services Supervisor.
  • Sphere of influence; Professional and personal conduct must reflect positively on GCCR as an organization
  • Performs assigned after hours / weekend, holidays and on call duties, as scheduled by management, must be able to respond to emergencies
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of computers, software applications, and with mobile smart devices. This includes the basics of texting, email, and application management.
  • Team members who receive phone allowances or are provided with phones must be willing to respond to phone calls, text, or emails during unscheduled hours.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Three (0-4) years of experience in a trade, facility maintenance, renovation, and or construction
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn how to safely perform routine electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, heating and ventilation, lock and door hardware, furniture, appliance, and sheet rock repairs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems (building envelope, structural, plumbing, electrical, and heating / ventilation) necessary to coordinate routine repair and maintenance projects and to evaluate the work of contractors, vendors, and GCCR skilled trades technicians
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to maintain good working relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects under the pressure of competing deadlines
  • Obtain certifications in boom, scissor, and forklift operation. (Training provided by GCCR)
  • Discretion necessary to work effectively with various entities and individuals in a complex organizational environment
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check
  • Must possess and maintain a valid license to drive in the State of California
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and perform simple math calculations
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS :

    Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Effective interpersonal skills are required.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED :

    High school diploma, GED or equivalent

    MATHMATICAL SKILLS :

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in an all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY :

    Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to maintain visual attention and mental concentration needed to perform assigned duties in highly disruptive conditions. Must be detail orientated and possess organizational skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    Moderate to considerable physical activity; requires handling of objects up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, bending, and squatting, crawling in tight spaces, and use of protective equipment. Ability to perform work overhead and to perform repetitive tasks and to work from a stepladder and extension ladders. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and / or loud noises. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. The casino floor is a smoking environment, and the Team Member must be able to tolerate tobacco smoke.
