Job Summary: As a Preschool Substitute Teacher at Gold Hill Preschool, you will step in as needed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for children ages infant to 5 . You will be responsible for following the regular teacher’s lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. This role requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to quickly adapt to different classroom settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment while adhering to established routines and lesson plans left by the regular teacher. Manage student behavior and create a safe, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for all students.
- Instructional Support: Deliver age-appropriate activities and lessons that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Adapt as necessary to meet the needs of individual students and the overall group.
- Supervision & Care: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times. Monitor children during activities, transitions, mealtimes, and rest periods.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with staff and administration regarding any concerns, updates, or incidents that occur during the day. Ensure that parents are informed of any relevant updates about their child’s day as per school protocols.
- Collaboration: Work with fellow staff members to maintain consistency and quality across the program. Follow any guidance or instructions provided by the lead teacher, administration, or other team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Classroom Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Ensure that materials and supplies are used appropriately and stored properly at the end of the day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, ECE credentials or Degree
- Experience: Prior experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained prior to employment.
SKILLS:
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different classroom settings and needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude when working with young children.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly respond to changing situations and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
AVAILABILITY: This is an on-call position, and hours will vary depending on the needs of the school. The ability to be available on short notice is preferred.
- Must enjoy working with children ages infant to 5 years old
- Must have 1-2 years experience working in a childcare setting
- Must be current with required immunizations
- Must have patience and understanding
- Must be able to work your assigned hours per week shift in the facility
- Must have a clear criminal background and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, utilize hand and finger dexterity, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
- Continually required to speak, hear, taste, or smell.
- May be required to sit on small furniture or on the floor.
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to blood-borne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
- The noise level in the classrooms or outdoors may at times be relatively loud.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
