POSITION OVERVIEW :

This position is a critical support role for the Transportation and Warehouse Team. The Yard Hostler / Order Selector plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth movement of trucks within our distribution center and for accurately and efficiently selecting orders in a timely manner. This position requires exceptional driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Safely and efficiently move bobtail trucks within the yard area.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks.
• Coordinate with the warehouse team to prioritize truck movement based on operational needs.
• Maintain accurate records of truck movements and locations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and warehouse personnel to ensure proper truck movement.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard area.
• Other duties and special projects as requested.
• Maintain safe work practices.
• Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
• Efficiently and accurately pick customer orders.
• Safely operate electric pallet jack in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Select and palletize products.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and quality standards.
• Other duties and special projects as requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Outdoor environment. Outdoor environment exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, and other weather elements. The work environment can be noisy due to the movement of equipment and vehicles in the yard. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day. Driving and maneuvering large trucks in tight spaces. Climb up and down from yard tractors multiple times throughout the shift. Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required. This may include bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
