JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: General Merchandise / Motorclothes Sales Associate
REPORTS TO: GM / Motorclothes Team Leader or GM / Motorclothes Manager
POSITION INFORMATION: The GM / Motorclothes Sales Associate is responsible for establishing a friendly and family style relationship with our customers. In addition, they are to help set-up and maintain an appealing and well-organized retail environment. They will assist customers with their shopping and purchase needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Provide excellent customer service to all of the dealership’s customers.
2) Interface with Service Technicians and ensure their GM / Motorclothes needs are being met when required.
3) Recommend related GM / Motorclothes, which would enhance the customer’s purchase experience.
4) Assist customers with their selection of merchandise and offer additional product that compliments the purchase.
5) Notify customers when special orders or back-ordered items are received.
6) Assist the Departmental Manager with attaining retail sales plans in GM / Motorclothes.
7) Receive and process merchandise from distributors, check merchandise received against purchase invoice, log merchandise into inventory, and prepare product for showroom floor if required.
8) Conduct or participate in periodic physical inventory of all merchandise (counts, reports etc.)
9) Assist with set-up, organization, and staging of special events such as Open houses, of HOG activities, owner’s clinics, etc.
10) Ensure merchandise displays are stocked, clean, dust free, and appealing to customers.
11) Continuously maintain showroom product availability by stocking shelves and displays.
12) Greet each customer promptly, enthusiastically and with a smile. Acknowledge each customer with a nod or a wave regardless of what you are in the middle of.
13) Provide prompt and accurate service on the cash register when required.
14) Ensure all charges are correct and check additions on all service orders if applicable.
15) Process all paperwork and maintain organization of all logs and files as required.
16) Receive payment for products and services rendered acquiring authorization for all credit cards, gift cards and check payments as outlined on the cashiering policy and procedure when and if required.
17) Initiate and maintain all related paperwork as required.
18) Maintain customer logs and inventory logs as required.
19) Assist accounting or other administrative assistants and required.
20) Answer all phone calls promptly, enthusiastically and with a smile as required.
21) Strive for teamwork and harmony with all departments and employees.
22) Establish and maintain a good working relationship with our customers to insure the highest level of customer satisfaction. We strive to build relationships and friendships with our customers and your position is a key to that relationship.
23) Handle any customer complaint promptly and fairly. Get the Manager involved with any complaint you cannot resolve.
24) Ensure that all customer greeting, and cashiering areas are kept clean and well organized.
25) Observe all dealership rules and regulations.
26) Personal appearance and hygiene are imperative to personal success and customer satisfaction and a strict dress code will be observed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1) Must have ability to get along with broad customer base.
2) Knowledge and experience with servicing of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and other products sold by the dealership, or the demonstrated ability to quickly learn them.
3) Knowledge of GM / Motorclothes and the commitment to continually develop knowledge.
4) Ability to look up GM / Motorclothes and quote prices for GM / Motorclothes using proper catalogue for particular item.
5) Schooling or experience in merchandising and retail sales preferred.
6) Experience with Point-of-Sale & computerized inventory systems or the ability to quickly learn.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1) Must have the ability to stand and walk the sales floor for most of the day.
2) Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift up to 15 lb. of merchandise.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1) Majority of work is conducted indoors; however, some outdoor booth sales are conducted periodically during open houses or other events.
2) Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
3) Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
