Overview

Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise-Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support-serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. Summary:

The Apprentice Mechanical and Structural Analyst will assist the Aviation Structural Analyst, Aviation Mechanical and Structural Analyst and other Engineering Branch members in obtaining measurements, pictures, and other relevant information necessary to facilitate assessment of damage, scope of repairs, and developing repair plans, modifications, design, and/or fabrication.

The Apprentice Mechanical and Structural Analyst will draft repair memos and other correspondence between Air Stations, SRR, and OEMs.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Will conduct research and analysis in support of SRR aircraft modification and sustainment programs to include but not limited to engineering change proposals, new product design/development, ergonomics/ aircraft layout, component fabrication, prototyping, technical data package and service request development, technical orders, aircraft configuration change packages, supply inventory management, maintenance procedures development, graphics/drawing updates, parts lists, and SRR technical briefing packages.
  • Will research existing and potential SRR mechanical, hydraulic, and structural systems, designs, component and performance requirements, operating parameters and related technical and training program elements required to execute SRR upgrades and sustainment.
  • Compare actual measurements to technical data and interpret data from OEMs to make recommendations on airworthiness.
  • Assist with resolving emergent and projected mechanical, hydraulic, and structural anomalies impacting any phase of SRR upgrade and sustainment, and ensure USCG managers are apprised of related risks, impacts and potential solutions.
  • This position will require the participation in aircraft ground runs and/or actual flight operations. T
  • Function as a technical observer for the collection of data and be considered mission essential personnel. The aircraft will always be staffed and operated by a USCG designated flight crew.
  • This position may be required to add, removed, and adjust vibration or monitoring test equipment to complete task.
  • The Aviation Mechanical and Structural Analyst may be required to travel to other USCG units to complete their duties.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Shall be proficient in identifying, locating, and researching USCG or equivalent DHS/DOD, Federal, and industry technical publications, process guides, manuals, instructions and related guidance and instructional documentation necessary for modification, testing, certification and sustainment of SRR aircraft.
  • Shall be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and know how to use these tools for communication and suitable presentations of research results and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of mechanical and structural experience in the areas of design, modification, repair, prototyping, installation, testing, verification, validation, certification, and sustainment of aircraft mechanical systems and structures. Relevant experience shall be identified as experience obtained within ten (10) years of award date.
  • Minimum of five (5) years practical experience in aircraft mechanical systems and structural elements, including flight controls, cockpit instrument panel, equipment location, and weight distribution. Relevant experience shall be identified as experience obtained within ten (10) years of date of award.
  • Minimum of one (1) year practical experience in machining processes, measurements.
  • Must be a UNITED STATES citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in USCG aviation maintenance support activities is desired.
  • Experience with H-65 mechanical systems and structural elements is desired.
  • Experience in developing maintenance procedures and technical orders is desired.
  • Experience or training in Aviation Safety is desired.
