Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Billing Compliance Specialist. The Billing Compliance Specialist is responsible for reviewing the appeals, procuring information and documentation to support an appeal, and assisting with submission to the clients billing platform. Other responsibilities include working with Clients, Timekeepers, and other administrative teams within this firm.

This role offers a hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $25.00 to $32.00. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: :
- Maintains working knowledge as a subject matter expert of Billing Guidelines, and Appeal Process.
- Monitors invoices for reductions in firm’s billing system and assesses needs and potential for appeal submission.
- Gathers necessary information and documentation to formulate appeal responses.
- Assumes lead role in working with timekeepers on large complex reduced invoices, paper/manual reduced invoices, second appeals and Notification Letters to coordinate a successful response.
- Manages follow-up communications with timekeepers, vendors and clients for timely receipt of required information to complete appeal submissions daily.
- Analyzes appeal denials for auditor error, appropriateness or extenuating circumstances that may support requesting a client exception or for second appeal success when allowed by the Clients.
- Educates timekeepers as to reason(s) for appeal denial.
- Provides suggestions and may participate in developing strategies and business plans for Billing Compliance.
- Assists and provides input to identify new improvements within the team.
- Maintains knowledge and daily system workflow of appeal tracking process.
- Identifies and escalates any system issues and auditing trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE: :
- Associate’s degree preferred
- 2 years of similar work experience in a law firm setting or similar environment
- Previous experience in legal billing a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex data and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of purpose and significance of guidelines and the implications of poor compliance.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with case management software.
- Regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in English.
- Strong organization and time management skills
- May be requested to work beyond normal work hours and weekends for special projects
- Works well in a team environment
- Ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision
- Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences
- Ability to effectively communicate, and nurture working relationships with all levels of management, staff, clients, and insurance claim representatives.
- Ability to respond to internal or external inquiries, including those of a sensitive, confidential, or adversarial nature
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations
