The Regulatory & Nutrition Labeling Specialist encompasses the development, meticulous review, and upkeep of food product labels, guaranteeing adherence to regulatory standards and delivering precise, comprehensive details for consumers. This position demands a profound comprehension of food labeling regulations, unwavering attention to detail, and adept collaboration with cross-functional departments such as R&D, marketing, and QA teams.
They will report to the VP of FSQ & Regulatory Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Label Development: Create and update food labels, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations (e.g., FDA and USDA regulations).
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with food labeling regulations and guidelines, including ingredient lists, nutrition facts, allergen declarations, and claims (e.g., organic, non-GMO, gluten-free).
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with R&D, marketing, legal, and quality assurance teams to gather necessary information and ensure label accuracy.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all label versions, approvals, and regulatory documents.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of labels on packaging to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy.
- Consumer Communication: Ensure labels effectively communicate product information to consumers, including proper usage, storage instructions, and health claims.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any labeling issues or discrepancies that arise during product development or in the marketplace.
- Label Approvals: Manage the approval process for new and revised labels, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food labeling, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance in the food industry.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of food labeling regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA) and industry standards.
- Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using labeling software and tools (e.g., Genesis R&D, Adobe, etc.)
- Certifications: Certification in regulatory affairs or labeling [e.g., Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC)] is a plus.
Additional Information:
- Knowledge of international labeling requirements is an advantage.

- Experience with product launches and managing labeling projects from concept to market is desirable.
