Overview
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will work with the Corporate EHS Manager to develop, implement, and maintain plant EHS policies that promote a safe and healthy work environment, conduct inspections of plant equipment to identify potential risks, investigate environmental & safety incidents and lead all plant EHS training.
Duties
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Develop and implement training programs for employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and environmental compliance.
- Represent management at Company Safety Meeting along with the other Plant personnel. Serves as liaison between management and Production and Maintenance employees in the daily administration of the Safety Program.
- Perform job hazard analysis on machinery, equipment, operations, and plant areas looking for hazards; recommends actions to correct/eliminate conditions which could create hazards to employes or violate OSHA Standards. Performs monthly clean up and safety inspections and compiles and distributes applicable reports.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, inspections, and compliance audits.
- Perform root cause analysis for incidents to prevent future occurrences.
- Prepare, schedule, and conducts training classes for hourly and supervisory employees on all aspects of EHS training in the plant.
- Creates and tracks corrective action plans/projects to improve safety and environmental results.
Skills
- Proficient in report writing to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
- Familiarity with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles and practices.
- Understanding of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Experience in training development to create engaging educational materials for staff.
