Overview: Must be LPN or RN
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our team. As an MDS Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely completion of medical documentation and utilization management. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, medical terminology, and utilization review.
Duties:
- Coordinate the completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for all residents in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gather necessary information for accurate assessment completion
- Ensure timely submission of MDS assessments to appropriate agencies
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Conduct utilization management activities to optimize patient care and resource utilization
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary clinical information for accurate assessment completion
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to MDS assessments and documentation
Experience:
- Previous experience as an MDS Coordinator or similar role preferred
- Knowledge of Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems
- Familiarity with managed care principles and practices
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical documentation requirements
- Experience in utilization review or ICU setting is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Requirements:
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN)
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to MDS assessments and documentation
