GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is located in the pharmacy department of Kickapoo Nation Health Center. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is open to part time or full time individuals based on applicant preference. This position involves technical work in a pharmacy under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The work requires a specialized knowledge, experience and skills of the technical work of a pharmacy and a thorough knowledge of the routine and procedures of the pharmacy department. On the job training is available to those with limited or no experience in pharmacy.
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, involving standing for long periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighting over 20 pounds and bending and stooping. Work is performed in the pharmacy and sometimes in the patient care area where there is potential exposure to communicable diseases. Such areas are adequately ventilated and normal safety precautions are required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Updating patient demographic and beneficiary information in the computer system.
· Data entry into computer must be done accurately for proper prescription labels, medication data for billing functions and medication profiles.
· Count and fill medications.
· Dispensing medications to patients at pick up window.
· Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
· Inventory management including putting away medication deliveries, stocking shelves, and return to stock.
· Answering the telephone.
· Extensive Computer proficiency.
· Any additional tasks or projects assigned by supervisor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
6 months of experience that may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories or affiliated medical fields.
· Applicant holds a Certified Pharmacy Technician’s license or Pharmacy Technician License in Kansas
· Prefer good computer skills
· Prefer good math skills – so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting and measuring medications, and for data entry in to computer
· Prefer knowledge of inventory management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
· Must obtain pharmacy technician license within 30 days of hire
· Must be willing to complete all required on the job training and any additional training courses assigned by supervisor
· Have experience in customer service
