Job summary
Under general supervision of the Branch Manager, the Loan Originator Assistant works alongside designated Loan Officers in a productive environment. This position involves supporting a team in the loan origination process as well as performing daily administrative tasks. Tasks are completed with a deadline and with proficiency.
Essential job functions
- Ensure files move through processing and closing in a timely manner
- Establish appointments with clients
- Collect necessary documents and review to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Make copies of important documents
- Monitor file and communications to ensure client questions and concerns and timely addressed
- Keep client informed about the status of the loan process
- Properly prepare files for submission to processing
- Demonstrate commitment to customer service and client retention at all times
- Stay acquainted with assigned Loan Officer’s daily schedule
- Systematically store and maintain client data and files
- Work closely with processing team to obtain documentation required for loan approval, docs, and/or funding
- As directed by the loan originator, obtain from third party vendors and review applicant’s credit history
- Perform such other tasks as may be properly assigned or delegated to the Loan Originator Assistant, except Prohibited Conduct
Prohibited Conduct
Loan Originator Assistants who do not possess a valid and current mortgage loan originator’s license are not permitted to, and shall not perform any of the following activities (“Prohibited Conduct”):
- Engaging or participating in any activity for which a mortgage loan originator license is required.
- Directly or indirectly taking a loan application.
- Offering or negotiating any terms of a mortgage loan with prospective loan applicants or borrowers.
- Quoting and/or discussing with a prospective loan applicant or borrower any loan terms, features, or costs, including interest rates, costs, payment amounts, APR, loan term, or any other similar matter.
- Signing pre-approval or pre-qualification letters, or any other loan-related documentation.
- Directly or indirectly soliciting loan applications.
- Discussing loan programs with prospective loan applicants or borrowers.
- Discussing loan products with prospective loan applicants or borrowers.
- Directly or indirectly holding oneself out as a mortgage loan originator, or publicly disseminating any information in any form that communicates that the Loan Originator Assistant can or will make, arrange, or negotiate mortgage loans.
Minimum requirements
- High School or GED required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capability to utilize office equipment
- At least two years of experience in the lending field preferred
- Proficient organization skills ; ability to prioritize
- Ability to learn quickly and effectively
- Excellent listening skills
- General knowledge of loan products and process
- Rapid decision making abilities
- Aptitude to work in a fast-paced, daily environment
