Summary:
As the LOA Coordinator, you play an important role in managing team member benefits and leaves of absence. You provide day-to-day support on benefits inquiries, assist with communications, enrollment, and events, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and company policies. Additionally, you oversee ADA, workers' compensation, and various leave types (e.g., family/medical, union, personal, military) while working closely with corporate HR to support team member and maintain compliance.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between employees and the HR Benefits department, addressing benefits-related questions and concerns
- Collaborate with Corporate HR to ensure proper messaging and administration of benefits at Aquarius and Edgewater
- Maintain up-to-date Benefits Communications boards at all properties
- Determine eligibility for leave requests by reviewing employee hire date, hours worked, and any prior leaves in the past 12 months
- Notify employees of their leave eligibility, explain FMLA, ADA rights, and assist with STD/LTD questions
- Review Health Care Provider Certification forms for completeness; communicating with healthcare providers via fax, phone, or email for necessary information
- Notify employees in writing of approved leaves, share details with departments and payroll, and maintain records
- Complete leave forms for data entry and update tracking systems
- Handle phone inquiries related to leaves of absence and workers' compensation, verifying eligibility as needed
- Audit records for FMLA, ADA, medical, personal, military, and union leaves to ensure compliance with laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements
- Assist corporate HR with workers’ compensation claims and light duty accommodations
- Notify department managers of any employee work restrictions related to workers' compensation, and provide timely updates regarding team members LOA, WC, and ADA status.
- Facilitate light duty placements when available
- Proactively meet with team members to address leave-related concerns as well as conducting ADA interviews with team members and recommending accommodations to HR leadership
- Input leave and workers' compensation data into the tracking system for all properties
- Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, if they apply to the position
- Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in leave of absence administration and workers’ compensation preferred
- Prior experience completing Human Resources functions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and follow up skills
- Proven professional experience using tact and compassion while dealing with sensitive issues
- Knowledgeable of ADA compliance preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, company policy and procedures and union contracts is preferred
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office, Infinium, UKG and Kronos
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
- Proven experience providing high level of guest service
- At least 18 Years of Age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
- Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
