Director, Community Services
Starting Salary: $128,167 - $153,800
GGRC is currently hiring for Director, Community Services who will be reporting to the Associate Executive Director. This role will oversee the Community Services Department, comprised of: Community Services Unit, Community Outreach Unit, and Quality Assurance Unit. This position supports agency efforts to address quality service provision, service access, and service access equity through the oversight and development of community partnerships and community outreach. This position will be on the Agency’s Management Advisory Community (MAC) and will be responsible for maintaining a collaborative partnership across Agency departments and with community agencies.
This role offers a hybrid schedule offering the opportunity to work out of office in San Francisco, CA. This role will also require you to travel within the Counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin. Occasional statewide travel to sites throughout California. Access to reliable transportation permitting travel to and between many different locations throughout the day to perform the outlined responsibilities of the position
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the Management Advisory Committee (MAC) group and participate in meetings and initiatives as required.
- Interview, hire, train, and supervise staff
- Provide staff with guidance and feedback on performance
- Hold regular staff meetings to disseminate information and provide opportunities for group feedback on operations
- Manage work flow and staff time/work coverage, ensuring individual, departmental and unit goals and mandated timelines are met.
- Provides leadership to the community services department and subsequent units as needed.
- Work collaboratively across agency departments to implement agency processes related to Community Service Department that is responsive to regulatory requirements and agency workload implications.
- Serve on community workgroups and committees as requested.
- Guide department efforts to expand service provider resources and equitable access to community services.
- Supervise Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) regulatory oversight and education efforts.
- Supervise and participate in local housing advocacy efforts.
- Provide staff support to GGRC board sub committees as requested.
- Supervise administration of quality assurance, risk management, and quality improvement processes and practices related to vendored service providers.
- Supervise efforts to assess community service access needs.
- Supervise all community partnerships developed and maintained by employees in the Community Services Department.
- Oversee hiring and training efforts across the Community Services Department.
- Supervise use of funds associated with Community Services work including but not limited to: Language Access and Cultural Competency Plan funds, Home and Community Based Services compliance funding, and Community Resource Development Plan/Community Placement Plan funds.
- Stay current on Department of Developmental Services (DDS) directives, related regulations, and laws.
- Establish, maintain and inform Agency policies and procedures as related to Community Services Department work.
- Attend GGRC board meetings, assigned community meetings, and statewide Association of Regional Center Agencies (ARCA) as required.
- Participate in planning and implementation of GGRC All staff meetings.
- Development management and leadership skills in the Community Services Department supervisory team.
- Provide leadership and direction across the Community Services Department.
- Provide guidance and direction to resolve conflicts and concerns as they arise.
- Submit required reports and documentation to outside agencies as needed.
- Serve as a liaison to DDS as needed.
- Cover team duties/responsibilities as needed and as appropriate in the absence of team members.
Education
- Advanced degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, Social Work or related social and/or other human service related fields.
- Minimum qualifications may be waived depending on the individual’s skills and/or the agency’s need for specialized skills
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years management and supervisory experience.
- Minimum of 3 years working with people with diverse communities (I/DD experience preferred).
- Experience with public speaking and training.
- Willing to travel within GGRC catchment area and statewide.
- Ability to deliver clear messaging 1:1 and in group settings.
Skills
- Expertise with Microsoft suite and comfortable learning regional center specific computer programs.
- Strong time management and priority management skills.
- Able to interpret and apply related laws and regulations.
- Ability to generate professional business communications which convey complex information in a clear and concise manner, mindful of the needs of the recipients of these communications
