Event Host

Job Description: This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about creating a memorable, festive atmosphere for guests. As a Host for our event pop-ups, you will play a critical role in establishing first impressions for many guests experiencing Hidden Gem for the first time. We are looking for an organized, bubbly, welcoming, and festive host to ensure a great experience for all. A great candidate for this position is someone who is highly organized and confident, as this role will be responsible for managing expectations regarding wait times for guests with reservations as well as walk-ins.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a welcoming, festive, excited attitude!
• Independently manage the waitlist within our reservation platform, Tock
• Organize and communicate wait time to guests; ensure the smooth flow of guests entering and leaving
• Add walk-in guests to the waitlist and politely turn customers away by inviting them to join us at the bar when we are full
• Accept payment for $5/guest cover for walk-ins using a handheld payment device
• Guide guests to their tables or designated areas, optimizing seating for maximum capacity while maintaining comfort
• Communicate table time limit to guests once seated, including the specific time they will be expected to be up and out of their seats
• Keep entrance, waiting areas, and seating areas tidy
• Support bar staff in bussing tables and running glassware to the bar when able
• Communicate effectively with the manager on duty, bartenders, and barbacks to ensure guests needs are met efficiently
• Handle any service issues with patience and efficiency
• Complete any closing and opening duties for the bar as delegated by the manager on duty
• Follow all Hidden Gem protocol along with adhering to all state liquor laws

• Customer Service Experience: Prior hosting or customer service experience is preferred, especially in high-traffic, lively environments

• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage waitlists, juggle multiple tasks, and keep guest flow steady
• Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to a dynamic environment, especially during peak holiday hours
• Team Player: Strong collaboration skills to support other team members, especially during busy periods

Compensation, Hours, & Benefits

• Part Time Hourly $16/hr
• Approximately 10-15 hours/week
• Must be available during the evening on both weekdays and weekends
