Job Summary :

The Vice President of Community Impact acts as the visionary and operational leader for the Community Impact department, focusing on implementing and expanding direct service programs to address food insecurity in our community. These programs are successfully managed in collaboration with our network of community partners. This position oversees various initiatives, including GHFB feeding programs, the partner agency network, health and nutrition services, the Urban Farm, SNAP Outreach, and neighbor advocacy. Strong leadership is essential to GHFB's mission to alleviate hunger across its 24-county service area. This involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including over 300 partner agencies and community leaders.  __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures that all Community Impact projects align with GHFB's mission and strategic plan.
  • Takes lead in creating and maintaining SOPs and applicable collateral such as training manuals.
  • Partners with Human Resources to enhance GHFB's culture, talent base, and policy adherence.
  • Collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to understand our clients' needs.
  • Prioritizes nutrition support and poverty alleviation strategies in all assigned projects.
  • Works with the Executive team to develop and implement GHFB's strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with the Development department on grant applications and partnership accountability.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports financial and program data in partnership with the Finance department.
  • Works closely with the Operations department to support the procurement and distribution at our sites.
  • Strategizes with and supports the Marketing department's initiatives, including creating collateral.
  • Fosters strong connections with team members and other departments while building external relationships throughout our service area.
  • Represents the Food Bank at Feeding America conferences and other relevant community events.
  • Develops and maintains an approved departmental budget along with staffing in collaboration with Finance, HR, and CEO.
  • Strategizes and develops plans to alleviate food insecurity throughout the Food Bank.
  • Seeks opportunities to collaborate with civic leaders, other non-profits, private funders, and school systems to expand the food bank's reach to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Works with the Community Impact (CI) leadership to conduct workshops and training forums for community partners, addressing common deficiencies, encouraging growth, and sharing best practices.
  • Develops and implements strategies to promote and enhance the delivery of nutrition education and cooking tips for clients to support healthy eating.
  • Continuously builds partnerships throughout the service area and SNAP outreach programs to support neighbors in need.
  • Ensures that all community partners comply with Feeding America, state, federal, and local operating guidelines and regulations.
  • Establishes standards and leads the CI team in site visits and monitoring; ensures that all community partners are appropriately trained in food safety, civil rights, compliance documentation, and other relevant areas.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises CI managers and the Neighbor Advocate.
  • Indirectly supervises all staff members within the CI department.
  • May offer leadership and guidance to our community partners and volunteers.
  • Skills & Competencies

    To succeed in this role, the individual must demonstrate strong teamwork, effective communication skills, and solid organizational abilities. The Vice President of Community Impact should be results-oriented, sensitive to diverse populations, and possess a strong moral compass with sound judgment. Ideally, the candidate should have experience in developing strategies for hunger relief or social service programs.

    Qualifications

    To succeed in this position, an individual must perform each essential duty effectively. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the role.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, adaptable, and flexible, with strong organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, and phone etiquette); public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Experience managing diverse staff as well as in various team environments (e.g., remote, virtual, in-person)
  • Experience, comfort in public speaking, and the ability to train and teach others.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline adherence, with multitasking capacity.
  • Flexibility to work a pre-planned schedule, including some evenings and Saturdays.
  • High integrity and moral character, supporting our mission, philosophy, values, and policies.
  • Strong work ethic, appreciation for diversity, and commitment to professionalism.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the service area, including overnight travel for meetings and special events.
  • Education and / or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, human services, or something related.
  • Related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred 5 years.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
