Freight Delivery Driver

Overview
We are seeking Drivers, both Class A CDL & non CDL holders to join our team at Golden North. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating either a 26' box truck or a tractor as well as other material handling equipment to efficiently load, unload, & deliver freight of assorted sizes & weights within Anchorage, JBER, Wasilla, Palmer, Houston & occasionally to Homer or Seward. We have a variety of trailer sizes for occasional use but most often we use the 28' trailers. This role requires someone self-motivated, punctual, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ideally experienced. This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, with the possibility of overtime. Duties

• Operate electric and/or standard pallet jacks to unload and deliver shipments.
• Perform route driving to deliver goods to customers in a timely manner while maintaining accurate delivery records.
• Operate liftgates on trailers & box trucks to complete deliveries as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Handle heavy lifting as required, ensuring that all items are deliver safely and securely.
• Collaborate with dock management to assist as needed.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
• Operate delivery vehicles, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency within the environment.
• Collaborate with team members to stack/shrink wrap/band pallets as needed prior to delivery.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• A clear understanding of the english language is necessary.
• Premier customer service & positive attitude required.

Qualifications

· Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles is a plus.

· Strong navigation skills and compliance with routes while driving are essential.

· Hazmat, Doubles, Triples, or any other endorsements are outstanding.

• Experience with commercial driving and warehouse operations is advantageous.
• Valid forklift operator certification preferred; but not required.
• Valid Alaska Drivers License
• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in freight handling and/or transportation.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks (up to 75 lbs) safely and efficiently.
• GED, Diploma, or equivalent experience required.
• Must be at least 18.
• Previous experience as a delivery driver is highly desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a demanding environment while maintaining safety standards is a must!

Pay: $19.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
