Job purpose
Under the direction of the Beverage Supervisor, the Cocktail Server is responsible for serving beverages to patrons in accordance with established policy and procedures on an assigned shift.
Duties and responsibilities
- Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
- Maintains and ensures checklist to completion including but not limited to opening and closing procedures.
- Greets and provides our guests with fast, fun, friendly, focused service, while taking orders and serving drinks.
- Incorporating a stage personality while serving guests drinks for extended periods of time
- Ensures guest satisfaction, drink quality, and cleanliness.
- Has knowledge of common drinks being served, ingredients, and prices.
- Answer questions about drinks, making recommendations upon request.
- Take drink orders and serve drinks to guests.
- Explain how various drinks are prepared, describing ingredients and mixing methods.
- Inform guests of daily drink specials.
- Check guest’s identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Wrist band all guests consuming alcoholic beverages.
- Attempt to limit problems and liability related to guests excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guests.
- Write guests drink order on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to bar staff.
- Remove glasses or drink containers from bar, gaming areas, or entertainment venue and take them to the station for cleaning or disposal.
- Clean bars, gaming areas, counters, etc.
- Present bills, accept payments, and operate cash register.
- Prepare cash receipts after establishments close and make bank deposits.
- Maintain personal health and sanitation (wash hands when using restroom, etc.)
- Perform any duties on or off-site involving guest services and quality control including, but not limited to, special events, guest giveaways, crowd control, property cleanliness, and other hospitality functions as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to obtain a gaming license.
- Minimum of 1-year relevant experience desired.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Employee appearance is a bona fide occupational qualification necessary to ensure that employees maintain the entertainment theme of the casino. Uniforms will consist of a costume and employees are required to conform to an appearance that is conducive to that costume. Employees must maintain the physical appearance necessary for the desired theme. This requirement will be strictly enforced and apply to males and females equally.
- Incorporating a stage personality while serving guests drinks for extended periods of time.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest and personal services; this includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.
- Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving guests in restaurant/bar/casino and receiving guests.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
- Ability to deliver a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable experience.
