Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture of Qatar Energy & ExxonMobil, has an exciting opportunity in Operations at our Sabine Pass, TX location (approximately 10 minutes from Port Arthur, TX). We are seeking a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical position that is responsible for safely performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production, facility and services equipment according to maintenance systems and processes that support the site’s business goals and objectives. This position reports to the Maintenance First Line Supervisor and has no direct reports. The M/C Mechanic is a DOT covered position (PHMSA).

- It is expected and required that all job duties be performed in accordance with all Safety, Health and Environmental standards and policies.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
- Install, align, dismantle, move and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, piping, heat exchangers, fans, tanks, turbines, furnaces and other equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
- Pipe Fabrication: measuring, fitting, welding, testing and installation.
- Rigging, lifting, installation, removal and movement of elevated and/or difficult to reach heavy vessel and machinery components.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, setup and repair of machinery.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
- Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or setup of machinery.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
- Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Knowledge of spare parts system and the reporting of parts stock deficiencies.
- Repair/rebuild, maintenance and preventative maintenance of pumps, seals, bearings, packing, valves, rotating equipment, and protective safety devices.
- Ability to secure and maintain qualifications to safely and efficiently operate all support equipment required in the performance of daily duties (forklift, crane, hoist, heavy truck, backhoe, boom lift, scissor lift, etc.).
- Complete Lock, Tag, and Try (LTT) procedure on machines to assure equipment is inoperable and safe to work on.
- Perform routine regular maintenance duties and routine preventative maintenance inspections and services.
- May be required to be a member of the site’s Emergency Response Team.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- The job holder is required to effectively facilitate and delegate work activities so that production objectives are achieved through the direct work of others. It requires the ability to self-motivate and appropriately motivate others.
- High School Diploma, associate degree preferred.
- Current NCCER or equivalent certification is favorably desired in several of the following areas:
- Boiler making, pipefitting, millwright, mobile crane operations, rigging, fall protection, welding, pump/seal maintenance and industrial maintenance.
- Certified Craftsmen preferred with working knowledge of mechanical equipment and replacement parts, gained through education or several years practical field experience.
- Fulfillment of OSHA 10/30-hour training for general industry is desirable.
- 5 years’ experience working with rotating and reciprocating industrial equipment
- A keen ability to interpret schematics, PIDs, blueprints and other graphical representations.
- Working knowledge of plant installations and specifications.
- Experience in accepted industry procedures, safety and environmental policies.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and foster a team environment.
