OT Network Specialist

Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture between ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy, has the vision to become the premier LNG export company in North America. Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.

Golden Pass is seeking an experienced OT Network Specialist to be a part of the team that stewards the Golden Pass OT Security program. The ideal candidate will have Oil & Gas / LNG experience and a thorough understanding of networking in OT environments. Golden Pass LNG is looking for team members that have a proven track record of providing support, have strong intrapersonal and communication skills, and are self-motivated and self-directed.

Essential Duties / Functions

• Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable Cisco-based network infrastructure tailored for OT environments.
• Develop and deploy network segmentation strategies to isolate critical OT systems, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
• Configure and manage VLANs, routing protocols, and firewall rules to optimize network performance and security.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize the performance of OT network infrastructure to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Perform regular firmware and software updates on Cisco devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls, to ensure security and compliance.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for network-related issues, diagnosing and resolving problems promptly to minimize downtime. Collaborate with other teams to address complex network issues.
• Maintain backups of all network configurations and ensure disaster recovery strategies are in place.
• Ensure all network activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies. Stay informed about the latest developments in network security standards.
• Maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and change management logs.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, including Cisco innovations, OT networking trends, and cybersecurity threats.
• Proactively recommend and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of OT network infrastructure.
• Implement and enforce network security measures such as access control lists (ACLs), firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Ensure all network activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies. Stay informed about the latest developments in network security standards.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Networking certifications such as: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CompTIA Network or CompTIA Security .

Minimum experience required of the position

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in OT networking, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Cisco devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Experience managing Cisco devices in Operational Technology (OT) environments is highly desirable.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

• Familiarity with OT networks and their unique security challenges.
• Knowledge of Cisco technologies such as IOS, NX-OS, and Catalyst and Nexus series devices.
• Strong understanding of protocols including TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, and SNMP.
• Understanding of industrial protocols like Modbus, Profinet, and OPC UA within OT environments.
• Proficiency in deploying security measures such as access control lists (ACLs), VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Knowledge of OT-specific network architecture, including control systems, SCADA systems, and Industrial IoT (IIoT) devices.
• Experience implementing network segmentation and secure zones in alignment with OT standards like ISA/IEC 62443.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST CSF 2.0, ISO/IEC 27001, and Zero Trust Architecture principles.

Required job competencies of the position

• Skills in packet analysis and troubleshooting to resolve complex networking issues.
• Strong critical thinking skills to identify the root causes of OT network problems and implement long-term solutions.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment with occasional field visits to terminal and pipeline facilities.

Physical Requirements

• Possible climbing, moving, and walking long distances, wearing fire-retardant clothing, hard hat, and goggles when visiting Terminal or Pipelines.
