Who We Are
Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

You possess a solid understanding of mining procedures and hazards in an open-pit environment, with familiarity in mining and geology terminology.
This is a safety sensitive position. As the Ore Control Geologist you report to Chief Geologist.
What You Do
- Perform pit and blast pattern mapping of alteration, lithology, structure and material types, interpret and digitize it.
- Provide safe and timely geological mine services with pit wall and blastholes mapping, grade control, hard vs. soft ore routing.
- Download and analyze blasthole assay data integrated with blasthole mapping to block out ore and waste splits in Mine Sight /Leapfrog, with focus on minimizing dilution and optimizing gold/silver grade.
- Conduct detailed geological analysis of the block model against ore control polygons to offer guidance on grade and waste control matters.
- Determine hard and soft ores for effective blending and optimal placement on the leach pad.
- Account for blast heaves and displacement when designing ore and waste splits.
- Oversee blasthole sampling to ensure that representative samples are collected.
- Analyze mine site lab QA/QC monthly and weekly housekeeping protocols.
- Provide geological guidance for short-term and long-term planning.
- Digitize pit maps into MineSight/Leapfrog for inclusion in the geologic block model.
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of pit geology and mineralizing controls.
- Inter-departmental collaboration including public speaking for small groups, particularly discussing ore control during weekly meetings.
- Ensure deadlines are met.
- Manage and maintain databases, including reviewing data quality and maintaining data integrity.
- Daily walking on uneven terrain, which can range from firm to dusty, muddy, or frozen surfaces.
- Practice and prioritize safe work habits.
- Adhere to operating procedures and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field required.
- 2 years of open pit mine operations experience, preferred.
- Proficient computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proficiency with industry standard database programs, such as MineSight, Leapfrog and AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive understanding of geologic instruments, their efficient use, techniques, and data interpretation.
- Public speaking skills.
- Willing to work outdoors.
- Familiarity with auditing procedures and ensuring QA/QC program.
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to ethical behavior.
- Compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and Company safety and sustainability standards.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices including observing, correcting, and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Appropriately use personal protective equipment.
- Valid driver's license required.
