What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shift - Unarmed Security Officer - Security Clearance Preferred position at Golden Seal Enterprises, Inc.?
Golden Seal Enterprises is looking for professional security officers. This is a full-time position working 32 hours per week. Shifts are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10pm to 6am. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ALL SHIFTS.
MUST BE PROFESSIONAL, HAVE MS OFFICE PROFICIENCY AND HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.
This position will require a DoD security clearance as of September 1, 2025. Those will active clearances encouraged to apply and pay rate will be negotiated.
Summary/Objective
Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property, personnel, and information. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities, to inspect functionality of security and safety systems, and to detect the presence of unauthorized persons. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Essential Functions
All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
- Patrols assigned site on foot; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, faulty access control systems, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, suspicious behavior, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds.
- Prepares logs or reports as required and documents all activity relating to assigned duties; writes or types reports or enters information in a computer using standard grammar.
- Assists in controlling access to client location through the designated admittance process according to client procedure; acts upon any access control violations observed; provides periodic escorts to visitors.
- Provides excellent customer service to the client, guests, and visitors.
- Observes and reports incidents, suspicious activity, or safety/security concerns to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required by the site.
- Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for the site, by the company, by law, and/or through training or certification.
- Communicates in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations; to the extent authorized.
- Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; establishes a perimeter, and provides direction or information to others.
- Acts to ensure that all property removal is conducted within appropriate policy requirements and in accord with client standards.
- Carries out other tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
- Upholds and abides by the GSE Security Officer Standards of Conduct and the DCJS Code of Ethics.
- Completes required training to maintain DCJS registration and access to client computers and systems as needed.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional environment that is very routine and quiet. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printing machines and standard duty equipment such as flashlights, medical supplies, hand-held radios, and cameras.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to patrol by foot, walk, observe, talk, type and write reports, hear and respond to emergencies. This is a sedentary role 90% of the time; however, officers must be alert and physically ready to respond to emergencies when they occur.
Required Education and Experience and Clearance
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.; related experience preferred, but not essential.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Prior military, law enforcement, or private security experience/training preferred, but not essential.
- Active individual registration in private security with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services preferred, but not essential.
- Current certification in basic First Aid, CPR, and AED preferred, but not essential.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Able to obtain and keep an active Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services registration in applicable categories, to include passing a background check.
- Able to pass a drug test.
- Able to follow standards of conduct including no use of tobacco/vape products while on duty.

- Must be a legal U.S. citizen.
