What are the responsibilities and job description for the Government Contract Accountant position at Golden Svcs?
Provide day-to-day interactions with finance and accounting teams to establish, implement, evaluate and review company plans, policies and procedures to meet generally acceptable accounting principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), DCAA, to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Interact daily with senior leadership team members to provide data sets, projections and trends to support making positive economic business decisions. Provide expertise to support the contract team for Equitable Adjustments development and contract price modeling. The position will report directly to the President.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accounting systems as Lead Accountant for Government Contracts to ensure contract, FAR, DCAA and company compliance.
- Work collaboratively with the finance team for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements as well as quarterly and annual audits/annual budgets.
- Must have good working knowledge of general accounting theories, GAAP and practices to support accrual accounting processes and cash conversion.
- Support the activities of the accounts payable department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
- Support the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.
- Ensure corporate income tax compliance and reporting; in coordination with the corporate CPA firm, to account for the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
- Implement quality assurance processes that maintain systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, which assure compliance. Implementation of process Improvement initiatives.
- Direct report to the President and work collaboratively with the executive management team to facilitate financial needs.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports as needed.
- Establish and maintain accounting procedures and controls to support government contract tools such as Deltek, JAMIS, UKG...,
- Coordinate outside audits with independent auditors, if necessary, to include regulatory agencies such as DCAA as well as provide oversight of all activities required for such audits.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions as set forth by the company.

Work Environment
This job is operated in a clerical office setting on a hybrid work form home/office schedule. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stoop or stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5 years of accounting work experience desired in government contracting.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and possess flexibility when engaged in all functional and administrative aspects of an accounting role.
