Job Summary: The Billing Specialist oversees all billing activities, including processing claims for Medicaid (IDOA), insurance providers, and private-pay clients. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of home health care billing practices, familiarity with Illinois Medicaid and insurance regulations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- IDOA Billing:
- Process and manage claims for Illinois Department on Aging (IDOA) services.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denials promptly.
- Ensure compliance with state and Medicaid regulations.
- Insurance Billing:
- Submit claims to insurance providers accurately and on time.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, appealing when necessary.
- Maintain relationships with insurance representatives for efficient issue resolution.
- Private Pay Billing:
- Generate invoices for private-pay clients and ensure timely payment collection.
- Communicate with clients about payment plans or outstanding balances.
- General Duties:
- Ensure all billing documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to track receivables.
- Stay updated on changes in billing regulations for IDOA, Medicaid, and insurance.
- Train and support staff as needed on billing-related policies and software.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of billing experience, preferably in a home health or healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with billing software (experience with systems like Brightree, CareVoyant, or MatrixCare is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid (IDOA), insurance billing practices, and private pay processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and Benefits:
