GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. What's your day like?
As an Accounting Specialist - Treasury at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain adequate cash flow for daily operations and approved construction expenditures, ensuring smooth operations. You will review and reconcile daily cashier sheets and bank accounts, providing essential ACH and wire payment advice to the Cash and Capital Credits staff for accurate posting. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Treasury & Budget Manager to accurately project revenues and expenses during the annual budget process.
Your expertise will also extend to performing accounting duties for the Golden Valley Electric Foundation, contributing to our commitment to community support and fiscal responsibility. Join us in driving innovation and ensuring financial stability within our cooperative!
What matters most
To succeed as an Accounting Specialist - Treasury at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates must possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail, enabling accurate cash flow management and reconciliation processes. An Associate degree in Accounting is required, although equivalent professional experience will be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar position to demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly in cash handling, internal controls, and accounts payable.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
