Job Description:
The Hospital Boiler Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and servicing of the hospital’s physical plant, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and other critical mechanical systems. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, this role ensures that all equipment functions efficiently and safely while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Requires weekend work on a rotation basis
Responsibilities:
The Boiler & Mechanical System Maintenance includes operating, maintaining, and servicing all hospital boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and generators, along with performing routine maintenance and necessary repairs on the DA tank, chilled water pumps, inner and outer loop pumps, condensate pumps, and tanks. Additionally, all exhaust motors on the rooftop must be maintained and replaced as needed. For Water & Air System Maintenance, responsibilities include maintaining the hospital and medical plaza water softeners, managing the supply inventory, and conducting daily, weekly, and monthly water testing as required. Monthly water readings must be recorded and reported to Henry County Water Service, while the Beacon Medea’s vacuum system and air compressors are also to be maintained and serviced. In terms of Safety, Compliance & Record Keeping, it’s essential to ensure a safe and clean boiler room environment, maintain accurate logbooks for all system operations, maintenance activities, and inspections, and perform daily temperature checks for the hospital and clinics. The role also includes monitoring and ordering all required chemicals for water treatment and facility maintenance. For Contractor Coordination & Schedule Flexibility, the employee will be present when outside contractors perform work, repairs, or inspections on boilers and other assigned machinery. The schedule must be adjusted as needed to accommodate critical maintenance, including rotational weekend work.
Education/Credentials:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
3-5 years of experience
Previous experience as boiler operator or in a related mechanical role preferred
Starting Range: $21.17-23.29
