Cage Cashier
Job Summary
Performs the Cage Cashier duties according to departmental policies and procedure. Promotes positive customer relations. Accurately and quickly handles a variety of money transactions.
Essential Functions and Tasks
1. Receives and exchanges cash, checks and gaming chips from patrons.
2. Handles fill and credit transactions.
3. Receives cash\chips from count room.
4. Prepares the window bank reconciliation and accounting related records.
5. Ability to work all bank assignments within cage.
6. May be required to work overtime, as needed.
7. Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Extent of Job Authority:
To perform the duties of the cage cashier in compliance with Casino policies under the supervision of the Cage Manager, Cage Supervisor and the Lead Cashier. Responsible for assigned bank drawers\window.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours per shift. Manual and finger dexterity required. Must be able to bend, reach, squat, and able to lift at least thirty pounds (30).
Cage workers carry out a wide range of financial transactions and handle any paperwork that may be required. They cash checks according to the rules established by the Casino. Cage workers sell gambling chips to patrons or to other workers for resale to patrons and exchange chips for cash. They may use adding machines or computers to calculate and record transactions. At the end of their shift, cage cashiers must balance.
Because gaming establishments are closely scrutinized, cage workers must follow a number of rules and regulations related to their handling of money. Cage workers must monitor large cash transactions and report these transactions on a Title 31 form to help enforce tax regulations and prevent money laundering.
Adeptness in interpersonal communications as well as positive customer service skills are very important since they need to constantly interact with casino patrons and act in behalf of the casino.
Golden West Casino requires new cage workers to undergo an on-the-job training and work under the supervision of a senior employee before they are assigned to full responsibilities. Cage workers should closely follow all gaming regulations and procedures and must be discreet and trustworthy especially when dealing with confidential material.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have minimum 2 years Cashier/cash handling experience
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in a similar setting
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Kern County Card Room Work Permit.
Work Schedule/Hours:
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
