Job Summary
Schedule and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles for conveyance of materials, freight, or passengers, or for normal installation, service, or emergency repairs rendered outside the place of business. Duties may include using radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments and compiling statistics and reports on work progress.
Primary Job Duties
- Schedule or dispatch workers, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations, according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios or telephones.
- Arrange for necessary repairs to restore service and schedules.
- Relay work orders, messages, or information to or from supervisors or clients using telephones or two-way radios.
- Confer with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, or requests for service.
- Prepare work and run schedules.
- Receive or prepare work orders.
- Oversee all communications within specifically assigned territories.
- Monitor personnel or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
- Record and maintain files or records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, or other dispatch information.
- Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required, according to work orders or specifications.
- Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under stress and remain calm.
- Good judgment skills and ability to make decisions quickly.

Education and Experience
- Associate degree (or other 2-year degree)
- High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)

Work Context

- Work Setting Office setting.
- Body Positioning - Employee may need to frequently walk, sit, and reach; may need to stand, lift, carry, stoop, kneel, crouch, grip and grasp. May occasionally need to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Work Attire - All employees are required to report to work neatly groomed and dressed. Facial hair is acceptable providing it is kept neat and groomed. Use good judgment in determining what is and is not appropriate to wear to work.
