Qualifications
· At least 18 years of age
· Responsible and mature, and have the personal qualities to understand the problems of elderly persons and persons with disabilities
· Enhance the quality of life of residents with kindness and compassion
· Understand the provisions of NAC 449.156 to 449.27706
· Demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak English
· Possess the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the needs of the residents of the facility
· Good health and free of any communicable diseases
· Able to lift and transfer residents weighing up to 150 pounds from sitting to standing and assist them to move from standing to sitting positions
· Capable of exercising good judgment and flexibility in meeting residents’ needs
· Able to maintain confidentiality
· Possess a good work ethic and integrity
· Have good judgment and use common sense in dealing with incidents that occur with residents
· Knowledgeable about the use of prosthetic devices or dental, vision and hearing aids is preferred
· Pass a background check
· Obtain a physical exam and be declared physically fit for the position
· Obtain a TB test and be free of communicable diseases
· Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate medication management and resident care.
Responsibilities
· Assist residents with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, etc.)
· Perform housekeeping duties as instructed by supervisor (disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry, etc.)
· Cook, serve and assist with meals
· Keep facility documents updated regularly according to regulations and facility policies
· Assist residents with daily facility activities (i.e. games, cards, music, exercise, reading writing, etc.)
· Monitor residents’ health and general wellbeing and report any changes to supervisor
· Follow residents’ plan of care
· Greet visitors professionally and assist them according to facility policy
· Answer the phone with company greeting
· Exercise kindness and compassion in caring for residents
· Follow facility policies at all times
· Conduct yourself ethically and professionally
· Be courteous and considerate
· Wear scrub top and long bottoms to work, and maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance
· Administer medication to residents per physician orders, regulations, and facility policies
· Monitor residents for side effects and reactions to medications, reporting any concerns to Administrator promptly.
· Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient health information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
· Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents, promoting their dignity and independence.
· Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in medication management and patient care.
Training Requirements
· Receive annually not less than 8 hours of training related to providing for the needs of the residents of a residential facility
· Receive at least 16 hours of initial training in the management of medication consisting of not less than 12 hours of classroom training and not less than 4 hours of practical training, and obtain a certificate acknowledging the completion of such training
· Receive annually at least 8 hours of training in the management of medication and provide the residential facility with satisfactory evidence of the content of the training and attendance at the training
· Annually pass an examination relating to the management of medication approved by the Bureau.
· Receive 4 hours of training in chronic illnesses and provide facility with satisfactory evidence of the content of the training and attendance at the training
· Receive infection control training annually and provide facility with satisfactory evidence of the content of the training and attendance at the training
· Complete training in working with diabetics, monitoring glucose levels and administering insulin pen injections, and provide facility with satisfactory evidence of the content of the training and attendance at the training
· Obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification
· Complete 8 hours of initial training in working with people afflicted with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and 8 hours annually
· Complete elder abuse/adult protective services training annually
· Complete 2 hours of cultural competency training every 2 years
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, PRN
Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 36 per week
