POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Critical Case Legal Assistant specializing in both Presuit and Litigation, you will provide crucial support to paralegals and attorneys. Your responsibilities will include obtaining and processing critical documents, conducting research, and interacting with clients and others. This position focuses on cases that include significant traumatic injuries or death. Case types typically include medical malpractice, nursing home/assisted living facility neglect, failure to use an AED in a public place, sexual assault, product liability, negligent security, vehicular wrongful death, and others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules and attends all detailed client intakes
- Schedules and confirms meetings
- Follows up on client information and documents
- Enters data including client intake, treatment, billing, lien, and other information
- Requests, obtains, and processes medical records, bills, and liens
- Assists with obtaining public record documents and media
- Obtains employment files, tax records, Social Security records, and student records
- Assists with Request for Copies (RFCs) and ensuring records are received
- Completes searches including ISO, FDLE, background, social media, FDBR, office of insurance regulation, property appraiser, and others
- Obtains transcripts of 911 recordings and statements to investigating agencies
- Prepare letters and handle other communications with adjusters, counsel, and experts.
- Process letters of protection (LOPs) and assist with loans and medical referrals
- Assists with preparation for pre-suit mediations, demands, and Notices of Intent to Litigate
- Assists with reduction & pay letters

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in legal studies is a plus.
2 years of experience in a similar role within a Personal Injury Law Firm
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of legal procedures.
