POSITION SUMMARY: This is not a remote position.

The Pre-Suit/Intake Attorney will offer expert legal advice and guidance to both the Intake and Pre-Suit departments, as well as clients. This position is responsible for handling multiple files and managing three pre-suit case managers. This role ensures that all legal matters are addressed with professionalism and efficiency. The attorney will collaborate with the Intake and Pre-Suit teams, providing strategic legal counsel to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards while working to achieve optimal outcomes for the firm’s clients. The Pre-Suit/Intake Attorney plays a key role in fostering a high-performing, legally sound environment within the department. The Pre-Suit/Intake Attorney is also responsible for evaluating potential cases and deciding whether the firm should take them on. Their role is critical in ensuring that the firm accepts only cases with merit and that align with its practice areas. 

Compensation and Job Requirements:

• Base salary of six figures depending on experience, plus a percentage of fees for cases settled and disbursed, and a generous percentage of fees for cases brought into the firm by the employee.   
• 80% of health Insurance paid for the employee. 
• Generous benefit package and a great work culture at a well-established personal injury firm in Palm Beach County.   
• No defense attorneys please. At least 5 years of Florida Personal Injury Plaintiff experience required.  
• Full time position: Monday to Friday; no work from home. 
• In office hours are Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 5:00pm 

Requirements

Role as a Pre-Suit attorney:

• Handle own case load and work directly with the three case managers and legal assistants on their teams to provide the best client experience and maximize their recovery. 
• Attorney is responsible for the settlement and closing of files assigned and meeting the financial goals of the department. 
• Meet with the Chief Legal Officer, Pre-Suit Manager, and Pre-Suit Attorney once a month regarding Pre-Suit Department goals, Rocks, and Issues. 
• Maintain and update financial spreadsheets on productivity goals for your Pre-Suit Teams. 
• Partner with Pre-Suit Manager and COO to continuously assess department operations, processes, policies, and procedures. 
• Identify, implement, and drive optimization initiatives for continuous improvement of the department. 
• Participate in activities that will result in growth, including expansion and hiring needs. 
• Ensure that the legal services are of the highest quality and are provided promptly and professionally. 
• Hold weekly meetings with Case Managers to discuss medical management issues, set goals for negotiating cases, and determine if the case will be sent into litigation, referred out, or turned down. 
• Attend at least two firm marketing and /or team-building events each quarter. 

Role as an Intake Attorney:

• Initial Case Analysis: The intake attorney talks to the new case department about the case, assesses the case's merits, and determines if it fits the firm's expertise. Note: These are only cases that warrant an analysis. Talk to the client to discuss the potential case. 
• Information Gathering: The attorney collects relevant documents (e.g., medical records, contracts) and clarifies any issues to evaluate the case's strength, if necessary, before signup. 
• Fee and Retainer Discussion: The intake attorney explains the firm’s fee structure (hourly, flat, or contingency), discusses costs, and ensures the client understands the terms of the engagement. 
• Case Referral: If the case is outside the firm’s focus, the intake attorney may refer the client to another attorney or firm with the relevant expertise. 
• Managing Expectations: The attorney sets realistic expectations regarding the outcome, risks, and timeline of the case, and identify potential red flags such as unrealistic demands or fraudulent claims. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office setting as well as working out in the field with the public at events. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Manual dexterity, physical mobility, and some physical strength/stamina.
