We are seeking PhD candidates to participate in a 6-month paid fellowship. The Fellowship will enable PhDs candidates to explore a potential career transition into Equity Research. The Fellows are provided with training and hands-on experience on a research team as well as networking and mentorship opportunities.
The Fellowship
Working closely with a Senior Analyst and other members of the division, the responsibilities of the fellow are to:
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.

The Fellowship
- Is open to PhD candidates in a related/relevant field who have graduated between December 2023 – June 2025
- Does not require finance experience, however a demonstrated interest in investing and a knowledge of the markets is required
- Learn about our culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of the firm
- Receive GIR-specific training designed to help you succeed in sell-side equity research
- Be aligned to a sector and have the opportunity to participate in various aspects of your team’s daily workflow
Working closely with a Senior Analyst and other members of the division, the responsibilities of the fellow are to:
- Develop strong industry and company knowledge
- Build and maintain financial models
- Interpret data and perform analysis on market, economic and industry trends
- Work on company specific projects
- Write reports on companies under coverage
- Update and maintain monthly reports, marketing books and valuation sheets
- Respond to ad hoc requests from clients, sales, and traders
- Interest in sell-side equity research
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Exceptional analytical skills, critical thinking, and judgment
- Self-starter with a proactive approach and a high level of enthusiasm
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
