Credit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firms credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparts is managed within the firms risk appetite. Staffed with more than 300 professionals, CR operates through 11 different offices around the world and credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. Given this structure, CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS :
Responsibilities
In this role you will :
- Work with senior credit professionals to determine the Firms risk appetite to lending counterparties on both a name-by-name and portfolio basis
- Underwrite corporate lending and derivative transactions, and conduct in-depth counterparty analysis including reviewing financial performance, capital structures, macro and industry fundamentals, and other qualitative factors
- Discuss transactions with Investment Banking and Asset Management teams to understand and explain key credit risk issues
- Draft transaction memoranda supporting Credit Risk recommendations
- Participate in lending and trade risk approval discussions
- Develop a thorough understanding of the Firms lending activities and key fundamentals of credit underwriting including financial modeling / projections
- Identify and escalate transaction, counterparty, portfolio-level risk issues to CR senior management
- Monitor the performance of counterparties in the portfolio, including adherence to underwriting projections and terms, and help formulate risk-mitigating strategies as necessary
- Develop and manage relationships with other areas of the Firm, including Investment Banking / Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, among others
