Who we are and who we’re looking for: The Goleta Sanitary District is a group of individuals who care

recruitment is for a vacancy in our Plant Operations team and is open to individuals with a range of education
and experience.
Duties: Working under general supervision, the position can be filled by a person with a varying level of
experience and with a Grade II certification, or equivalent) who is considering taking their Grade III certification
test. The person with in this position performs skilled tasks including: monitoring wastewater treatment
processes, performs routine laboratory tests and a variety of duties in the cleaning, operation and maintenance
of a wastewater treatment plant. This person will also operate and maintain the full range of equipment
commonly found in wastewater treatment plants; monitor and maintain plant processes; conduct laboratory
tests and analysis; read and interpret gauges and recording devices; operate motorized equipment used in
plant operations; read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures, performing a wide variety of
skilled entry-level to journey-level duties.
Education/Experience/Knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent and 12 educational points and 18 months of full-time qualifying experience
as a California State Water Resources Control Board (CSWRCB) Certified Grade II operator. Or, High school
diploma and 18 educational points and 30 months of full-time qualifying experience as a CSWRCB Certified
Grade I operator. Or, an Associate’s degree or a minimum of 60 college semester units, including a minimum
of 15 semester units of science courses. Or, a Bachelor’s or higher degree, including a minimum of 30
semester units of science courses.
