Job Summary:

GOLF.com is seeking a news-focused editor who can pilot the site remotely on weekends, and also contribute during the workweek. (If weekend hours don't work for you, this job won't work for you.) The best candidates will excel at simultaneously managing multiple tasks, from identifying stories to writing engaging stories and headlines to curating the homepage.

Job Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

• Help manage/write for/energize the site on Saturdays and Sundays, and also contribute on a to-be-determined workweek schedule. This is largely a remote/work-from-home position.
• Work in the GOLF.com CMS to build and QA content cleanly and quickly
• Have a strong familiarity with the golf space (news especially) and its key players. (If you lack golf experience, news and/or sports writing/editing experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment will also be looked upon favorably.)
• Write, edit and fact-check short stories on tight deadlines, and write headlines and teases that appear prominently on all of GOLF.com's channels
• Optimize existing and upcoming content for maximum SEO exposure
• Collaborate with GOLF's editorial and social teams to prioritize content production based on the editorial calendar
• Contribute to GOLF Magazine (writing, reporting, editing) as necessary
• Have familiarity with web publishing (ideally WordPress) and Photoshop
• On-camera/behind-the-mic experience also a plus
  
  

Qualifications:

• Sharp editor and writer, with a knack for penning enticing headlines and display text
• Confident. You're comfortable making editorial decisions on the fly and managing a homepage
• Precise and focused. The ideal candidate will be detail-focused while working in a high-velocity editorial workflow
• Strong communicator, and a team player
• Multitasker. You should be able to handle a variety of desk responsibilities: from editing stories, breaking news, viral posts, features, writing pithy headlines, selecting impactful photography, etc
• Creative. You know what golf fans want. And you have the ability to package trending stories effectively in real time
• Versatile. You're as comfortable in front of a camera/mic as you are in front of your laptop
