What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Electrical Estimator position at Goliath Construction Consulting, Inc.?
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for helping identify new business opportunities and preparing and overseeing the preparation of estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and communication skills and be able to interact effectively with internal and external customers at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare detailed electrical estimates from conceptual design through final construction documents.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and analyze project risks, labor costs, material take-offs, and subcontractor pricing.
- Perform quantity take-offs using digital software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and develop labor and material cost projections.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes and ensure coverage for all scope items.
- Recommend cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options during preconstruction.
- Analyze plans, specifications, and project requirements to ensure completeness and alignment with the client’s expectations.
- Work closely with the preconstruction team, project managers, engineers, and clients to comprehensively understand project scope and budget.
- Maintain and update historical data for benchmarking and future estimating reference.
Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in electrical estimating, specifically for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, local building codes, and commercial electrical systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, Trimble) and digital take-off tools.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, riser diagrams, and specifications.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with design-build and design-assist projects is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (not required with extensive experience).
