A leading firm specializing in heavy civil construction is seeking an experienced Assistant Safety Director to oversee a team of Site Safety Supervisors throughout our North Carolina operations. This key position plays a vital role in the continued development of our safety culture. This role is crucial in maintaining and improving our occupational safety and health performance across multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor and manage a team of 10 site safety supervisors, ensuring consistent application of safety protocols across all project sites.
- Collaborate with management and the safety team to continuously enhance and promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
- Collaborate with management to ensure safety policies and procedures for all construction projects.
- Conduct regular safety/site audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the investigation of accidents and incidents, determine root cause and ensure accurate reporting and implementation of preventative measures.
- Manage the budget for safety programs and equipment across multiple sites
- Develop and conduct comprehensive safety training classes for employees at all levels
- Create training presentations on various safety topics.
- Travel extensively throughout North Carolina to visit sites, provides updates on safety requirements (Up to 33%)
- Fill in and be full time as site safety manager as needed when existing site safety is out for vacation, PTO, etc
- Preparation of site specific safety plans as required by specific projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards applicable to heavy civil construction
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in safety management systems and data analysis
- Valid state driver's license with ability to travel frequently to multiple project sites
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
Required Certifications:
- ASP/CSP Preferred or similar designation
- OSHA 510/30 Certification
- OSHA 500/502 Certification preffered
- Competency Trainer certification for Fall Protection, Excavation, and Trenching
- Flagger Training
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Confined Space Training
The pay scales start at $100K , depending on experience.
These roles will be based in Georgia (specifically Atlanta), Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas, or anywhere in the Southeast.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
